Release note, 13 October 2026
The definition of absorbing a change now says that hiring is not ruled out
One sentence was added to the draft text of the Transformation Capability Management standard on 13 October 2026. Transformation capability management is the practice of treating an organisation's ability to change as something it holds, measures and governs.
One sentence is added to the definition of "absorb"
The draft definition ended: "A change is absorbed when the organisation runs the new way of working unaided." It now goes on: "Unaided does not mean that nothing is hired." The 3 sentences before it are unchanged.
Read alone, the definition could be taken to bar every supplier
The definition says "without outside help" and "unaided". The standard does not bar hiring. The draft reason under principle 3 says: "Hiring is the right answer for routine work." The new sentence says so where the term is defined.
The sentence rests on the standard's own text, and on no new source
It adds no finding and cites no study. It states what principle 3 already implies. It does not say what "unaided" requires when work is hired.
It touches one term, and no principle's words change
The term is "absorb", which principle 1 uses. The 10 principles and 6 domains stay as they were. The case for the standard, on the home page, also changed in 2 places on 13 October 2026. The case is not part of the standard's text.
This note is dated 13 October 2026. It belongs to v1.0, 13 October 2026.
The standard's current custodian is BusinessGPS, the trading name of TechShifts Media Limited, which wrote the first draft. The aim is a committee with chairs drawn from outside BusinessGPS.
